Slovenia Trip May-June
2007
Part 1. Three Days on the Sava Bohinjka.
Our first look at Slovenian trout. From the bridge at Lake Bohinj.

The next morning, still there.

The first part of the river we fished.

Lunchtime fishing at the campsite.

Darren into a Grayling.

Towards the lower end of the stretch.

The predominant species on Sava Bohinjka's Bohinj Fishing Club stretch.

Local Wildlife.

Landing a nice fish at the Mostnica confluence.

A lot of these guys around, but not enough to make the fish selective.

Another nice day on the river.

One of the many Grayling we caught.

A nice corner on the Sava Bohinjka.

Divers in the Gorge above Polje. Not what usually scares the fish when we're
at the river.

Me playing my biggest fish of the trip. A 24-25" Rainbow on a Bunny
Leech Streamer.

Darrens biggest fish, a 23-24" Rainbow on a deep fished nymph.

The pool that gave us both our biggest fish of the trip.

As far as we made it before the coming thunderstorm sent us back

Back for a few casts on the Soca

Before heading back to the hotel soaked and happy

Part of the river Baca, with surprisingly big fish.

One going back

Another productive little pocket

First a nice Grayling

Then a 19" Rainbow

Further upstream and getting ready to move rivers

Our first and last Marble Trout and last fish from the Baca

A couple of casts on the Idrijca before moving to the Trebuscica

The Trebuscica, Most difficult fishing of the trip.

The spot for our first Trebuscica fish

Higher up where Darren landed our last on the river.

A Brown/Marble Hybrid

Finishing off our trip, a last hour on the Tolminka

We caught nice fish on every river we fished. An awesome trip to a beautiful country.

This
trip was booked through Angling-Worldwide. We gave them a list of our requirements and left them to tailor a trip around our wishes and restrictions, not easy. As you can see from above Steffan made a great job of it, the guiding he arranged was superb and we got to try out some great rivers. Follow this link to visit the Angling-Worldwide website and check out their trips. |
